You are saying that ANYBODY can call up and get a suite for the rate discussed. But you are missing an important element to the whole discussion, and you mention that the ordinary joe is going to get better treatment than a Lifetime/Diamond.
I would suspect that an ordinary joe who books for 3 months is very likely to get better treatment than a Lifetime/Diamond who books for 2 nights.
I know for a fact that a non-status-holder who books a convention providing several hundred room-nights on an otherwise dead weekend gets treated a hell of a lot better than a Diamond member who books a room. (Said better treatment might well result in him ceasing to be a non-status-holder.)
