Thanks it will be only for 1 of the 4 nights. Arriving very late night #1 no car, Day2 p/u car but its only for 1 day so will return it at night when done with it. Day 3 p/u car #2 a 2 day rental since my flight out is 11am car goes back the night before. So only night #3 do I need to find a place to park the car.
For all the good things about Hawaii, there is a problem with rental cars getting broken into. I just would not park away from the hotel to avoid a parking fee.
My best recollection is they gave me a dashboard card. I really doubt if they would tow you over not having a card one night, but that is a prediction not a guarantee.
I'm kind of lost in your schedule, but there is one stray rental lot literally across the street, so maybe you don't need an overnight car at all. (I think it's National but it has been awhile).
