It's around the block from my apartment, so I know it's safe, and right next to Penn Station. Easy entry/exit to subways and trains serving JFK and EWR.
I had an excellent week-long stay at the Fairfield on 33rd Street a few months ago. It is hands-down the nicest Fairfield I have stayed at. Everything is new and modern. Rooms are not spacious but standard size for midtown. The lobby is beautifully decorated. The breakfast room is large enough to keep up with a full house and the staff keeps it well stocked. An outdoor area adjacent to the dining room is nice. And the rooftop patio/bar offers great views toward downtown.
