I don't use miles for award flights, so while I'm not in the "profound massacre" category, I care about what they did. I care, because to me this move indicates that United simply doesn't care that they induced us to fly on their airline by giving us generous benefits, and when they realized they were too generous, they got sleazy and pulled the rug out. IOW, it is in an indication of what kind of integrity populates the senior management ranks.

I need 140K to make MM, and at this point, I'm no longer bending over backwards to make it, becuase I have absolutely no confidence that UA will decide on a whim to downgrade that benefit.

There was a better way to do this, and one that would have been fair. They chose the unfair option, and then they wonder why people are upset? At this point, I trust a used car salesman more than I trust United.
