I don't know, for those of us who are willing to abandon the *A at the port of entry, and fly, e.g., DL once in a while, JFK has some excellent onward connections...
However, I see the point, and it does probably make sense for OS to use EWR for access to onward connections via UA, despite the fact that it is, well, EWR.
