Nobody stated there is never a need to carry the card.

In your case you purchased directly from TG and not at an ticketing office, this will almost always trigger a need to show the credit card upon check in.

If a ticket is purchased through a 3rd party (TA/onlineTA/award through another airline etc) you will not be asked to show anything.
