I've done the Hertz one way to LGA on a sunday afternoon. It works well but the time window that the deal is good for is really short. (Thurs afternoon through Friday morning to Manhattan and Sunday afternoon to the airports). They're basically getting you to shuttle cars in to and out of Manhattan for the weekend rush.
