Whoops.... nm... I was confused by the box for the Wizard entry. When I enter the code in the discount code box, all is well and there is no name requested. Meh... blame my embarrassing lapse on price comparison fatigue.
Last year when I tried using my old reliable AWD code that I'd been using for years for my annual one-way car rental, I was challenged for the first time at my neighborhood Avis. Luckily I somehow managed to remember the name of the company it belongs to and said that since I was on a personal trip I had no business cards with me, and they let it go.
This year I'm a little nervous. This year that code is reducing the rate from an insane $200+ per day rate down to a much better $40-ish/day rate. The price difference has never been that huge before. I really don't want to get stuck paying $200+. Are they now challenging people more for the codes? Or was I just unlucky enough last year to get stuck with the one agent in the system who bothered to ask? That rate is the only semi-sane rate I found that was offered by ANY of the car rental companies, unfortunately.
