Its supposedly for fraud protection by the airline. There's that Visa or Mastercard verified feature to handle this concern but not airline or card holders has this feature enabled.

I'm a bit tolerant on policy if i bought tickets for someone else.

What i don't understand is why i have to still present my credit card when i am buying for my own airline ticket.
