You're attempting to claim a heckler's veto for yourself. Your question could be asked about anything anybody does. Why do X; why not do Y, where X is the speech or behavior with which the heckler disagrees and Y is the behavior the heckler would prefer.
I wanted the clerks to do their jobs. I wanted them to do their jobs right then, not complain and have more "training" to which they won't pay attention. I was attempting to train them right there, and they were too lazy to pay attention, just as they were too lazy to pay attention the first time.
But the most important reason I did X and not Y is that I chose to do X. You are free to choose to do Y.
