I'm glad I looked because there were only 2 FC seats left together, so I'm glad I "notified myself" and grabbed them.

Is the "missing seat assignment" problem a new glitch? Previously, I've always been given seats, even when I have a travelling companion and seats together weren't available. If they're not going to assign seats, it's obviously is a good idea to keep checking your flights during the upgrade window and grabbing your own seats.

Also, I previously received "elite upgrade notification" emails, but it seems like those have stopped the last couple of months. Is that a glitch, or just random?
lack of notification and lack of seat assignment at upgrade are the norm for me. i have not received an upgrade notification email in months and the ones i did receive in the past were completely random (eg, i would get one on one flight and not for the next flight on the PNR).

unfortunately this is yet another place where you have to put in your own personal touch point. on flights where i am "expecting" (dare i say entitled to? ) a CPU, i have to try to remember to go in shortly after each upgrade window to self assign a seat if the CPU did indeed process
