If you prefer to put it that way, then yes. I would suspect that there are more people in the world that would drink water when thirsty despite potential social sanctions than not.

If you are of the ilk that considers this activity inconsiderate, that's definitely your privilege but, then again, someone else may be equally offended by your bad haircut, so it balances out.

I think that we can both agree that this is not the typical folkway deserving of the attention that it has already garnered. That is the main point that I was trying to make.
