After I got my AeroPlat a few weeks ago, I did call in and try to cancel my PlatCard, with the reason of "no need to pay the fee for 2 Plat cards". I asked if I can get any fee refund, the lady said no, hence I told her if there is no refund, I might as well keep the card.
My question to those 2 for 1 cardholders, did you specific ask for it or was it offer to you?
When I was offered the two cards for one price, I was calling to cancel the regular plat card (really was, had no idea they would offer both for one fee and did not even mention that option). At the time, ~3 or 4 years ago, I was more interested in AE points.
I was told at the time if I paid for the Aeroplan plat I would get the regular plat for no charge going forward. Was told this would continue as long as I kept both cards.
Have since changed tactics (less enamoured with AE) so no current experience with what the new 2 for 1 would be.
