X: not on Fri or Sun
W: Sun 12:01a-Mon 11:59a, Thu noon-Sat 11:59a
Since the 14th is a Saturday and the S outbound flights available are all after 11:59a I figured I’d get the SLX fare but when calling AA they only had the W price. Does that make any sense? Why would that fare even be available on that day/time if its against the rules? Maybe there was a 3rd S fare that didn’t appear in the Fare Information search? I called back and asked specifically for SLX53BQ1, the agent told me she had it available certain days but they all priced out higher. (which I confirmed on EF)
SLX53BQ1 is not valid on a Saturday. The rule differences of the fares are:
SLX53BQ1 - PERMITTED MON THROUGH THU FROM THE GATEWAY.
SLW53BQ1 - PERMITTED FRI THROUGH SUN FROM THE GATEWAY.
Since you're leaving on a Saturday but returning on a Monday, the days you specify apply to both rules. If you go to AA.com and actually price out flights for the dates you want, you'll see that both fare rules are used, one for the departure flights, and the other for the return flights.
