That was your first mistake. The front-line Chase people don't really know how it works.

I'm not saying you're guaranteed to get the bonus points if you apply again. But it is a different card.

What everyone above is missing is that the $49/year card (before it went IHG) was called the Priority Club Select Visa. You apparently never had a Select PC Visa, and in that sense you may have a "different enough" card.

The problem is that only someone else with exactly the same old card as you who applied for the Priority Club Select Visa would be able to tell you if they got the bonus. Chase themselves cannot give you the right answer, they're just guessing.

Are you getting a free night every anniversary with that $70? Are you getting a 10% rebate on all your redemptions? If not, those (plus a lower annual fee) seem reasons enough to apply for the new card (and then cancel your old one), even if you don't get the signup bonus points.
