Was working from home yesterday, so I did not get to engage in the water cooler talk with some of our aviation and antitrust folks yesterday. But having batted the ball around with them today, the consensus is that this merger is in DEEP trouble. DOJ's complaint is not a targeted attack one aspect; its a full frontal assault.

It really is worth setting aside an hour and reading the 40 page suit (excluding the 20 pages or so worth of data tables) to see how arrogant and obnoxious US management really is.
I wouldn't want them running any business, let alone an airline.
These are people who have safety programs in place not because they actually care about people's safety, but because they calculated that it costs less to implement the safety program than the cost (by PR value) have a loss rate of X/10000 flights.
