That's odd. I've booking HA reservations using UA miles on several occasions before and was able to pull the reservations on HA.com. I was unable to select seats, but I could view my reservation and later check-in online.
Perhaps the last name is entered differently in the AA reservation? Did you try entering in different combinations of it?
It doesn't always work like that. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't especially if there's a schedule change or flight# change.
