I want to hit the bonus via VRs, but I don't want to get my account red flagged or cause any disruption (fraudulent charge accusals; closing of card; etc).
Is it acceptable to just put a few meals on the card, maybe $50-75, then go buy $1k in VRs?
Or should I wait a few days...
What's the best way to do this...

Day 1 of this card, I'm going to go get a nice dinner, fill up the car with gas, then go get $1k of VRs. I guess anecdotal evidence suggests I should be waiting to hear from the fraud department.

All of these comments amaze me. Don't think for a second that you aren't being monitored as a new customer. I will pass on the sage advice I was given....take it slow to start and keep your spending as "real" as possible. There are many alternatives than throwing a 1k drug store charge on your card days into the relationship. Smoke and mirrors to start not a big middle finger to the cardinals.
