Your question is unclear since you have not specified how many MQMs you earn by traveling or whether your GM status is from some sort of comp.
Since the advent of rollover, the year of earning is no longer material since MQMs are now fungible from year to year with those exceeding your earned level rolling over to the next year. Therefore, if you had flown 40K miles during 2014, the 10K would necessarily be applied to that year to get you to your GM goal and you would have no rollover to the next. However, if you flew 50K, that 10K would really become 2015 MQMs giving you a running head start.
However, if your GM is some sort of comp that only requires the $25K Amex spend to maintain and your actual MQM earn is 40K or less, the 10K "boost" is irrelevant.
