Just give the other ticket to your companion.

I found out that:

1. You put in on Megabus site; 2 passengers and it charges $5 per ticket!
2. You put in on Megabus site; 1 passenger but buy 2 it charges $3 per ticket!

Just make sure you buy it all in the same itinerary to avoid multiple $0.50 reservation fees.
