Interesting. This is my first time using companion cert and will probably be my last as it wasn't worth it. In the end I saved maybe 50 bucks b/c without the cert I would have been smart enough to buy on 2 separate PNRs to get the 1 remaining cheap fare. It's not worth the hassle and on top of that it makes the flight ineligible for upgrades (I know I'm only FO but my UG success on this particular route is close to 100%).
Still think it may have been a website bug because the flight is wiiiide open, it's 3 months out and they are still selling V and X fares. What possible reason could they have to limit use of the companion cert on this flight? Also, I could get the website to price the same flight on any other weekend as long as 2 seats of the lowest class are available. I think that the site was bugging out because it only had 1 seat in the lowest fare class.
