The times I have "negociated" rates with a hotel the rate has always still received points. So I'm not sure what it it would take to get a rate that didn't include points.

And as always, you will still get your elite benefits no matter the rate, negociated or not. Oh, wait, Marriott is taking those away as well. So maybe you are right and you won't get anything any longer.
