Generally, the ticketing carrier will have to help you out. They will likely not know (or care!) that you paid less points than supposed to, so I suspect it should be ok ... unless there is NO WAY to get out of that city anymore on Star Alliance, which would be uncharted territory
In which case they might gladly grant a request to drop the first leg and originate from the second, which would be great for all!
