AirBerlin Baggage Policy

Hello Flyertalk,

I will be flying AirBerlin and was wondering if you could help me out. I have a hand full of flights over the next three months under two separate reservations, one booked through AA and one through BA, however all are AirBerlin flights. Both reservations were reward bookings. On one of my reservations it explicitly states in writing, I am allowed two pieces of luggage. On my other reservation I was verbally told I would be allowed just one piece of luggage. According to the BA website, the more generous baggage allowance it used.

I called AirBerlin to confirm my baggage allowance. The second time I called I was on the phone with them for 45 minutes. AirBerlin said it was such an unusual case they had to call another department. At the end of the call, they said I would have differing baggage allowances, one for the one reservation and two for the other.

Is there any way to be allowed the two baggage allowance complimentary? Does anyone know how strict are they at the airport? They said it is 150 euro charge to check a second bag. If I were to upgrade one part of my flight, would that increase the entire reservations baggage allowance?

Thanks!
