This is definite. Yes, you must show your onward tickets to immigration when you get to PVG. Note that both you and she must have either a visa for the next destination (Japan) or qualify for visa-on-arrival or visa-free entry there. This will likely be checked at your origin point (SIN?)...possibly also upon arrival at PVG.
