You could be at the hotel as early as 6 am if you arrive at 5 am at HND and get up at 9 or 10 am, and then make sure that you stay up until the next night.
If you stay up all day as a zombie then you are likely to fall asleep too early in the evening and screw up your clock even more.
IME, you just have to gut it out. (More frequently preached than practiced here.

Sound likes the OP has a decent seat so he may be OK.

Should be able to get some sleep on the flight then especially if you stay up a bit late the night before.
Also there's no arrivals lounge at Haneda, which would have helped.
My plan is to get up early say 4 am. Get to LHR at 6 am. Spend time in lounge and have leisurely breakfast. Get head down at about 5pm UK time. If room not ready at hotel, take the shower they have offered and just get on with it. How hard can it be?
Sounds like a plan especially if you can grab a shower at the hotel. I've sometimes have had to head straight to meetings which has necessitated a shampoo and shave in the lav before landing.
