You don't nee to put both on hold. Put yours on hold, then when you see that your daughter has the same flight, you can just book hers. If they want a UM fee, call and have the two PNRs linked and the fee is waived. We do it all the time, even harder with two kids with their own miles. I hold mine, book both of theirs quickly and hope for the best, knowing that all three can be changed afterward if we happen to miss a seat (never happened, though).
