It seems to me that the poster had 3 carry on items - roller w/ built-in detachable carry bag, garment bag, and Briggs&Riley bag (description missing).
I consolidat all the time, though. I have a very small shoulder/hip bag (fits wallet, phone, passport, boarding pass) that gets shoved into my backpack. I also usually have an international-sized polycarbonate roller.
Is this considered too much carry on baggage? Roller fits easily into all but the CRJ-xxx overheads, and backpack easily under the seat.
