It was the carry bag and roller which caused the time delay, as I wasn't prepared to pull apart. I'd have been glad to pull into row 3 and get it done, and let everyone by. Since ATC really determines when we take off, it probably didn't affect schedule, though-- but it could, so let the people past!
Am I missing something here? The GA and FAs let you onto the plane with what were essentially four carry-on items?

If I carry a roll of duct tape so that I can bind multiple items into a "single carry-on" does the roll of duct tape count as one of my permitted carry-ons?
