Avoid when busy
We have been at the Westin for a week and while there are a lot of service failings and the onsite restaurants are hugely over priced generally for what you get there is also a lot to like about the location and friendliness of the staff.
Today is the first day however the resort has been busy and to put it bluntly it cannot cope, I have never seen such a mad breakfast scene, it seems to be included for everyone at the resort and there is no seating order, people just circle around waiting for someone to leave, which means if your lucky you get a table in 10 minutes but if your unlucky you could be waiting a long time. Even when you get a table be prepared to queue 3-7 minutes for everything, so an orange juice 5 minutes a coffee 7 minutes, the omelette 6 minutes, the toast was the only result, only 2 minutes!
In travelling around the world and staying at places with many more rooms and I thought some of the Asian or Vegas buffets were mad but this was just mismanaged to a level I have never seen, to the degree I am wondering if anyone was actually managing it at all or they just don't care! The annoying thing about it is the staff who are running around like headless chickens trying to keep up through no fault of their own are really nice and taking the brunt of the complaints from the guests, yet is is clearly a management issue rather than the fault of people here!
Add to the above the fact even the "health Club" is actually just another location children can go, there lap pool at the health club has not age restriction despite there being 3 or 4 other large pools at the resort meaning you cannot do laps at all and this was earlier in the week when it was quiet, now it is crazy and the one under 16 free zone, the whirlpool is also full of kids and absolutely no attempt or desire by staff to do anything about it.
I will do a full report when I get home, but for anyone considering coming here as a couple don't unless it is a quiet season! If you have kids I would consider it, but make sure you have a car or you want to pay a lot of money for very average food.
