I am just arguing that the earning rate of 1.4% ( corrected to reflect the bonus requires $25k spend ) is not so pathetic and that to match said earnings rate on a CSP will require one's Travel and dinning spend to be more than 35% of their total spend ( corrected to reflect the bonus level for the MP card )
And also that the MP Explorer provides higher protection benefits than the CSP does, which may make the UA MP card a better card (depending on how much importance one accord to said benefits )
Good analysis, thanks. For me though, Sapphire's still better, since virtually
all my Sapphire spend is travel and dining. So I get much more value than I would on the Explorer (which I only use now for United tickets). I'm not the type to use purchase protection, so that benefit, while acknowledged, has no value to me.
