And it seems I got my wish - at least partially. PHF - Newport News airport - announced today that Apple/Frontier are stating service PHF-CUN in February:

It is winter seasonal, end in April, 1 x weekly (Saturday) and so far it appears to be Apple charter, not Frontier in conjunction with Apple.

But it's a start. :-)
