Upon receiving the card today, I noticed what they actually gave me was the Platinum Plus version, which only comes with 5,000 miles upon signup. For that amount, I would not have bothered with the card. I know some other banks like Barclays might do something similar.
What's the protocol here? Do I call Bank of America and explain that this isn't the card that interests me? Should I just close this card and try to reapply for the Visa Signature version in the future?

The only difference between the two cards (approval wise) is the assigned credit limit. If your credit limit is under $5000 you get the Platinum. Call customer service and ask for reconsideration on the credit limit. If you have a good case for it you should not have a problem. Easier to get limit increase than turn decline into approval.
