I had an opportunity to stop in at the new Airspace Lounge in Cleveland Airport today and thought I would write up a brief description. This is apparently run by a start-up company called Airspace in association with American Express.



The lounge is on the hall to B concourse, straight ahead from B security. It's easily reachable from any concourse, though D and the high-numbered C gates are a long, long walk away. Still, if you're not a United Club member, Airspace is a reasonable alternative.



Admission is free for American Express Platinum card holders or $20 for all others, with a surcharge at busy times. Included with admission is a $6 credit towards food or drinks and unlimited use of the facilities. Some airline club members might get a further $6 discount on entry but I'm unclear on who.



Inside is a (paid) bar with a modest food menu. Your credit is good for a beer or food item, and each guest gets their own credit. Bring in 2 guests (the max per card) and order some food and drinks for everyone to share!




The lounge is small, located in a former office area, but nicely decorated. It includes a number of tall "bar" seats, as well as seats at the actual bar, some sofa/chair seating, and even a conference room. There is also a coffee machine, but I didn't see any buffet or snacks when I was there. There is a power outlet at every seat, which is a very nice touch I wish all lounges replicated!

I'm sure the place will get very crowded during irregular operations, but it's still a nice alternative for someone like me who's not a United Club member. And the view of the B/A runway is very nice!
