My wife, our daughter, our 5 year old grandson, and I recently completed a 7 night award stay (March 3-10) at the WDW Hilton Lake Buena Vista across the street from Downtown Disney. No resort fee charged for award stays.
Great stay, booked a standard room, as a Gold I asked for and received an upgrade to a Junior Suite. Given access to lounge (on 9th floor?) for continental breakfast which was perfect for us (fruit, pastry, toast, cereal, milk, coffee, juice, yogurt, etc). Took a banana, apple, orange, or pear every day for a later snack. Bus service to the Disney parks for on-time and not too crowded.
Weather was a little too cold (mornings were 50's to mid 50's with afternoons in the 65-75 degree range) for the pool so I can't comment on it.
Lots of business guest here for a convention and quite a few junior high/high school girls for cheerleader/dance troop competitions so the hotel was busy but not overly so. But, sometimes, it was a little too busy in the hotel "store/snack shop" on the first floor.
A couple nights we walked over to Downtown Disney (a short 5 minute walk) and enjoyed the DD area especially all the Disney stores, the Lego store/displays, and the treats we had one night at Ghirardelli's!
This was our first stay here since 2007. Prior to that my wife, our other daughter, our granddaughter (currently 17 years old), and I stayed here 6 times between (1999 and 2007).
We have always enjoyed our stays here and this was one of the best ever!
