I doubt if most of Runners have OCD. It is the opportunity and cost benefit ratios that motivate some of us.
Example, Jan 2012 AA came up with triple miles ODR LAX or SFo. I know some who did ten RT at a cost of $ 1600. Earned a EXP and Eight SWUs.
