They've never been this prickly, AFAIK.
I know - but given that KLM has always had a limit, then they have not just recently moved to this model - as I've shown, they have always (in my experience) shown quite an interest in the carry-on being carried aboard.

And as I've tried to explain, I expect this will only increase given their impending changes in check-in baggage policy.
