Indeed this will just slow down things a lot relative to what has been standard ar Indian airports for years now.

The more things the screeners look for/at, the more they will miss. The chances for an improvement in quality of screening are pretty negligible. The chances for slowing down screening is not negligible -- it's a certainty that this will slow down things.
