I was very fortunate this weekend and skirted this rule. Originally planned on staying TH and FR nights at a property for a wedding, and then moving on Sat morning to a property a few blocks down to take advantage of the Megabonus. As the stay progressed a few of the groomsmen ended up sharing the room and it was decided it would be our base to get ready for the wedding on Saturday. I went downstairs Saturday morning to add a night and they were slammed with people checking in for the wedding so I pulled up marriott.com and made a 1 night reservation to make sure I got the room at the same rate before they possibly sold out or whatever. Called down later and told them the situation. They kept me in the same room and they ran it as 2 transactions. I have a folio for the first two nights and a separate folio for the 3rd night. The stay credit for the 3rd night posted today along with the Cat 1-4 cert. (Which I was definitely not expecting.)
