A lot of it has to do with the competence of the desk staff. Some are just plain clueless and some ar amazing--just like the rest of the world.
Number of SPG platinum keep increasing and currently the cross reward with delta airlines will increase the platinum members in spg group.
Sometime I do not feel the platinum status when i check in spg hotel.
