Trying to use a GPU Y->J on an SFO-LON direct flight for end of March travel. None available on the direct flight, but there are some available if I do a change in ORD

So, which would you choose? Take the certain upgrade with a stop in ORD or take a chance and just do E+ with fingers crossed for the upgrade?
