One data point to provide a little reassurance.
Despite all this nonsense of declaring "one name" for delta.com, my middle name is all over the place, etc. I called tech support as you did, they said all is well on their end,
despite what I see. Completed two trips recently where DL.com had my middle name in the wrong place and pre-check worked.
Delta are you listening? Fix this!
