IAH-HNL is currently sUA 3cabin, but HNL-GUM is sUA 2cabin (the plane from ORD-HNL). Plus upgrading "direct" flights like that is a PITA.

Thanks for the response. I did not think that I would be able to upgrade, but it never hurts to ask, nicely.

The trip isn't a mileage run. I am going to the Philippines on personal business. I had a voucher from UA that was going to expire. The voucher required that travel only be on UA metal and this was the least expensive option I could find at the time of booking.
