Is there a cost effective way of attaining an upgrade on a single segment to the Global First cabin?
The only segment with a GF cabin is IAH-HNL (it looks like the IAH-GUM stops in HNL with an equipment change). I haven't flown that route on a 3 cabin plane, but I'm guessing since HNL is normally a modified full service (on 2 cabin planes it's BF lite) that you won't get the true GF product. Plus you'll be upgrading from coach so you'll only get to business (you can't double upgrade). All that being said, I THINK you can use 1 regional to get 1 cabin upgrade all the way to MNL if you can find someone to sponsor you. Others who fly to Asia more will chime in I'm sure.
