Agreed that Uno and Due are mediocre at best, but let's just say my best friend came to visit me once in Chicago in about 1998, and he still talks about how much he loves Gino's East. So I stand by my recommendation.

Malnati's however is another solid choice, as is Giordano's. I also like Tedino's, but that's all the way in Edgewater Beach on the far North Side and well out of the OP's geographic radius.
