For me, I use two places:

1. This thread:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/inter...periences.html

2. TripAdvisor reviews (at some hotels that have a lot of reviews, one or more of the reviews will mention either "platinum" or "elite' or "status"). Now, sometimes the information is not complete; that's why my one half-failure, at Hioliday Inn Ponce (Puerto Rico), where I read on TripAdvisor that an elite member got a free breakfast, but when I got to the hotel they infomred me that it's Mon-Fri mornings only, so since I had a Sat checkin and Mon checkout it applied my second morning but not my first.

A breif list of some HI hotels that come to mind immediately that I've gotten a free Plat breakfast at:

Holiday Inn Santa Ana / Orange County Airport North (Grand Ave), many stays: Hot buffet is free to Plats, and so is juice and coffee. (This is the nicest HI for Plats I've found in the SNA/Anaheim area, though it's much more expensive on cash than the next I'll list.)

Holiday Inn Anaheim Resort Area (the one on Manchester Ave), many stays: the buffet is free to Plats, but juice isn't (only water and/or coffee)!

Holiday Inn Kansas City Airport, two stays: the buffet was free to Plats, I don't remember how beverages worked.

Holiday Inn "Tower" Lubbock TX, one stay: free breakfast for Plat, but I don't remember the details
