Why, I have no idea. I loved the current livery when it was introduced a few years ago, and it felt at the time the same way this does - that everyone hated it. Again, i have no idea why. It was classy and modern and clean, yet obviously Delta.

American has had the same ridiculously old fashioned straight lined aluminum planes for almost 40 years. I didn't hate it, but man this airline felt old. This new color scheme is FAR better in my opinion. Is it perfect? No. However, I have seen every single alternative proposal on A.net and FT by would be designers, and none of them are anywhere close to this current scheme in my opinion.

Even before we saw the reveal, I totally expected this kind of reaction from the internet. How can you possibly please everyone? Again, I really don't understand what the problem is. It is AMERICAN AIRLINES. You are going to have red, white and blue, and preferably something involving the American flag in some way. I have absolutely no problem with this new look. In fact, I am relieved that it isn't the odd teal and white look that we were seeing on the self-checkin kiosks and people were speculating on. That would have been a real disaster.

At the end of the day, 99% of people probably won't even look out the window of the airport at the plane. Heck, they're lucky they make it to the right terminal and are actually even aware of what airline they are flying that day, much less who made the plane and what color the gradients on the shades of blue on the tail are.

Overall the new branding was an absolute necessity. Every single thing was broken and wrong about the old airline. Trust me. This new look and identity had to happen, and hopefully will be reflective of a changed attitude and direction of the entirety of AMR and their employees.
THANK YOU
