The new AA tail - yes, you're right, it certainly is loud. But it's also an extremely apt reflection of the American psyche - bold, brash even, powerful. Embrace it - it's who you are, and it's how the American brand (the nation, not the airline) is perceived around the world. You should be proud of it rather than being the whingers that many of you are on this thread - if you want to whinge about something, then whinge about your appalling airport infrastructure and the pointless theatre that is the TSA.
Honest question: Assume you're the CEO of a company, any company. You have a choice to make about branding. One of your choices is a design which has to "grow on" people (like a Ford Edsel).

Forget about any history that was attempted to be incorporated. Would you intentionally pick a design that's immediately offensive to half of your customers simply to make a design statement?
