First, I was being mildly humorous, which is why I winked at the end of the message. Second, the overall point is that the purpose, in general, of all of these promotions, is to promote Marriott brands overall, and for Marriott to do more business, as reflected by increasing points balances in MR accounts, including in yours and mine.
Yes, you are a Plat, but that does not mean that you can't use the certs, or give them away as gifts. I personally do not care for the Cat. 4 certs, only because I feel as you do, that in many cities, most of the Cat. 4 hotels are not terribly attractive or interesting to me, and therefor, limiting. However, there are many people, on this and other threads, who do not agree, and feel that there are MANY decent Cat. 4 hotels. Considering how much you do not like the Cat. 4 certs, have you considered calling MR to ask for a different promo for the coming Spring 2013 MegaBonus period?
