The SFO & CLE ladies were so good that I made a point to write an email to GS customer service and cc'd Smisek. Surprisingly, I received a quick personal note from Smisek's blackberry about 30 min later thanking me for the positive words in the midst of a tough week for everyone involved.

I do wonder though how those asia carriers might have been in treating IRROPs. Maybe better than UA GS?
As to Smisek's blackberry response, I have to say I'm very skeptical that he himself would have replied to any e-mail even if somehow it were known to be from a GS. I'm sure they have people to handle those with a form response.

The Y guarantee has always been capacity controlled so it works in the case of slight overbookings but not severe overbookings.
So was this due to your status or more due to them being an unaccompanied minor?
